Hi
I am very much hoping someone can sort this one out for me, as I have a cousin who found out what I believe to be information that is in error. Unfortunately, we don't know exactly when he died, but do know that he lies in the Kensel Green cemetery in London.
To turn to exactly what information we have:
Thomas Wilson was born in Hull in 1890
He married Lilias Helen Smith in 1919 in Derby and they divorced in about 1932
I know with absolute certainty that my grandmother died on 5 September 1939
Unfortunately I cant narrow down the death of my grandfather, as the name Thomas Wilson is quite common. What I perceive to be the wrong death is the occupation was wrong. My mother made some rough notes and the Kensel Green cemetery seems to tie in with my grandfather being a stanch Catholic. My mother did say that "auntie" came to stay with my parents at their house in Surrey, which had to be after 1954/55 when they left Cornwall. She could not remember exactly when her father died as she was having to take my sister for hospital appointments, though they may have been maternity appointments for me as I was on my way. She did say she saw my grand dad laid out at home, she thought he lived at College Road, London but again, her memory was sketchy but the latest it could have been was 1958 early 1959.
My grand father was the eldest of eight children, on one census he was recorded as Thomas Welson rather than Wilson. My Mum thought he might well have served as a major in the army but was unsure, he did all the stationery for some of the big hotels around the country, as she had vague memories of accompanying him. He was on business with his brother in law in Wallasey, Liverpool so I was told.
Sadly my mother has passed away so I can't ask her for more information but my cousin and I would like to know about our grandfather out of sheer nosiness and hope someone has to expertise to help us on the right path.
