Roots Magic for vista

Hi everyone!

I bought a new laptop recently which has Windows Vista - I want to install my roots magic software on it but I am told it may not be compatible...Will I need to buy the lastest version/upgrade of this software?? Also, if I chance it and install it could it cause problems with my laptop??

It shouldn't harm the laptop. if it's not compatable it just won't work.

Installing will not cause any problems with your laptop. It is only listed as 'may not be compatible' because it hasn't been tested. In my experience it is only programs that utilise high performace sound and graphics that won't work.

Definately worth giving it a go, if it doesn't work properly you can always uninstall it.

try googling 'roots magic vista patch' you will probably need to download one and install it to get it to work correctly.

I had to do this with my FTM (2005) but the patch did work ok.

Hi Julie,

I installed it and it seems fine, no patch needed as yet, but I haven't tried adding anything new to my tree yet (actually, I haven't added anything new to my tree for a long while) I'm now hot on the heels of some new ancestors!!!!
