FTM 2008 not working - any ideas?

i think pc has got to be wiped and have all programmes re-installed as legacy lets me download it but when i try and add gedcom to it it gets half way and crashes.

i have managed to add a gedcom to my heritage family tree builder (no idea what its like) but we will see how it goes.

looks like i'm going to spend the week saving all docs and such from pc to cd.
