  • Week 44 (Nov.1-7): Voting

The theme for Week 43 is "Voting."

Have you ever found your ancestor on a voter list?
Any politicians in the family tree?
How about someone involved with the women's suffrage movement?
    Amy Johnson Crow

    My politician brother.

    Thank you Caroline.

This week I am writing about another of my 'single ladies' who feature in my wider family. Dorothy Mary Jay 1884-1959, stood for council elections in the 1920's, but that is only part of her story.

Fascinating story, I love these sort of discoveries. I hope you find a link to her, if Dame Judi can claim a 10xGrand Aunt, then we can claim those thorns on a twig. I wonder what happened to her later in life.

          hi,
thanks for reply. Lackey is my maiden name and i've managed to link alot of the UK lackeys to my tree, most going back to my 2x great grandads siblings (he was 1 of 12) so i'm hoping i can link her as well. (the problem is they were irish that moved to the uk and theres not many isrish records, and the name in ireland is sometimes under Leckey.)

she became a free-lance journalist and there is records of her travelling the world, so my gut thought is she didnt die in the UK. As far as i can find she didnt marry (in the uk anyway).
