I wondered if his will might help but unfortunately it only gives administration to William Henry Jepson. Presumably his son and Katherine L doesn't appear to have left a will in 1941 - http://interactive.ancestry.co.uk/19...l=ReturnRecord

Thanks Chrissie. I did a lot of work on my father in laws tree about 8 years ago and posted on genesreunited about the 'mystery'. I will try and find what I posted before and maybe start a new post. I got the birth and marriage details, in Scotland so list the mother's name, of Fred Barber's children and there are definitely 2 mothers but not as you would expect... (I.e. First child with Alice, then 2 with Katherine, then another with Alice...). Odd.:D Charney Jo

Charney Joe Did you pick up a Percy Jepson born 1884/5 (possibly Percy Gordon b 1884 Manchester) He is a visitor, with Catherine's father John Gordon b 1833, on the 1891 Scottish Census at the home of John's sister
Couldn't see a death for Alice either or 1881 for Fred either as yet.
Looks like Chas H the child of John and Alice settled in New York

Hi Vera
I have just posted a (very, very!) long post on another thread with the details I have. I didn't see the Percy Jepson staying with John Gordon who, as you say, could well be Katharine's father. Will have a look into it as I don't recognise Percy as a family name... but maybe that is how Fred met her! Thanks:D Charney Jo
