Ancestry have him transcribed as Wardle . 1861 Census
He is with family at 6 Gee Street St Pancras
        Piece 112
        Folio 41
        Page 3
        Can't see him in 1851

Thank you all for looking - the little I do know is as follows-

Father Henry McArdle not sure of wife's name
Children Ann b.1833 St George in the East - in 1841 she is a boarder Clarendon Square Catholic School St. Pancras, have found her on all censuses
John b. 1836 Stepney, have him on the 1851 census as McWolle
The one on Find My past 1861 looks likely as he is also in St. Pancras (transcribed John Mardle) but can't find him on Ancestry

The John Mardle you have found on Findmypast is the same entry on Ancestry as the John Wardle that I've given the link to in post #2.
If you say his father should be Henry then this is presumably not your man!

Sorry, what I meant was how do you know that Ann is John's sister?

Elaine, I know they are brother and sister as I have a copy of a letter sent from USA from John to Ann dated 1876 signed 'from your loving brother'. Also mentioned in the letter are Ann's children and their father Henry.

                              OK!
Was hoping that maybe it was from baptismal records that might give another clue as to where they are in 1841. What a mysterious bunch!
