Hi Everyone - would like to pick your collective brains please. I'm trying to trace the parents (and before them) of my ancestor William Clayton who was b. abt. 1810. In 1841 he was a 'man servant' living in Marylebone with his wife Ann and his children Joseph and Ann. It would appear that both of these children were born before the 'mandatory' registration of births so I cannot get William's wife Ann's maiden name from a birth certificate. Their local church is no longer there and I've tried to search through old parish records at the London Met Archives to no avail.
William died in 1849 and there may have been a child who died in 1848 (no birth registered). Does anyone think that either or both of the death certificates would reveal anything that would aid my research? Any other suggestions gratefully received!
