I don`t seem to be able to find how many children my grandfather James Clarke b1870 in Manea, Cambridgeshire had. My grandmothers name was Mary Elizabeth Baker b1880 and was from Ramsey, Huntingdonshire.

Children's births have maiden names included in the birth registration indexes after 1911. You can check births before that by finding Mary and James in 1911 census. This should tell you how long they have been married and also how many children of the marriage were born, how many died and how many are still living. The children living with them would be a start.
Looks like Angus Clarke (1911), Kenneth Clarke (1912), Clarice Beryl Clarke (1915), Dardenella Clarke (1917), William Henry Clarke (1920) and Arthur Ernest Clarke (1925) baptisms are available on FindMyPast.
Baptised in Cambridgeshire, but I don't know which parish. Unless you have a subscription, you'd need to buy some FindMyPast credits to view the full transcripts.
but when I searched for Mary Clarke born 1880 in Ramsey, Hunts, I got this entry for 1911
CLARKE MARY ELIZABETHF1881 age 30 North Witchford Cambridgeshire
The James in the list above, age 39 was born Manea.
Any children born between the marriage 1901 and 1911 when mother's maiden name was added to index, should be on census with James & Mary and will probably include some of the younger Clarkes listed above in the index.
You can see a transcript for 10 credits but the actual image of the original form, which is where it tells you about the number of children born and how many died, costs 30 credits here:

thanks anyway.

How do you mean the dates are wrong? 1911 census ages are often out by a year, depending on whether the people listed had their birthdays before or after census night.
