ordering certificate question

How do i order a certificate when the year isn't on the GRO? The death was in 1972 and i have the volume and page number. can i just ring up the registry office and ask to order it?

You can order from GRO - just use the "order a certificate" option and use the reference you have.

Or order direct from the registration office (who hold the original record). You can probably ring, but many districts now have on-line ordering options.
