  • Sarah Hardy and father John

On her marriage certificate to Thomas Farrow in Jarrow in 1840 Sarah states that her father is John Hardy , a carpenter. In all censuses, 1841-1891, her place of birth is South Shields, Durham and her year of birth is 1820. She died in 1899 aged 79.
Despite looking everywhere I can think of for a number of years, I have never been able to find either Sarah's baptism or any other trace of John. One final piece of information that I have is that one of the witnesses to the marriage is Elizabeth Hardy.

Can anyone find any trace of her family?

Can't find a baptism but there is a John Hardy born 1796 on 1841 and 1851 census in South Shields married to Elizabeth, think the 1816 marriage might belong to them and her Surname is Brown.

I have looked for 3 of the children's baptism and can't find any of them. Last child seems to be born in 1836 which doesn't help with the GRO.

Seems funny that none of them are baptised.

A search on Ancestry public trees shows a number of trees with Sarah.
She is shown as daughter of John Hardy & Sarah Shanks. Baptism at St Hilda's South Shields on 8 May 1825.
Father John died 1841 and was buried 20 June 1841 at St Hilda's church.
The witness Elizabeth could be her sister who married twice.
Lots of details on these trees.
