  • WW2 / Army records

    Hi all,

Apart from applying for records, what are the best sites for finding out information?

    Thanks

What are you specifically looking for apart from the service records?

WWII records are still with the mod. You need NoK to apply for them. Spouses get them for free. They are quite detailed though, so well worth applying.

Unless you have details of the units he served with, with dates, the only way to find out would be to order his service records. It's not necessarily true that you have to be next of kin in order to apply. You can apply with the permission of next of kin, or, depending on when he died, you may be able to apply without the consent of next of kin
