      If you DID find a 2nd marriage info about his previous wife might be on the cert. My fil's 2nd wedding, to mil, says he was "formerly the husband of D-------- M--------- J----------, from whom he obtained a divorce".

        My greatgrandfather divorced my greatgrandmother in 1918. He was a labourer and his petition (it was held by the TNA) has "POOR PERSON" stamped in large letters on the front of the petition. So presume there must have been some sort of legal aid back then.
