Dunnottar

Also known at one time as Dunnottar Mission Church but re-dedicated as St Bridget's Hall Church in the 1970's. Funding for the building of the church was arranged by a variety of events incliding a two day bazaar in 1886. The building was needed as the population grew to the point where the ancient nearby church cold no longer house the congregation. Building works took until 1888 and at the time the capacity was around the 400 mark. Prior to the re-dedication the internal fixtures and fittings were removed, remodelling of the interior to include moveable seating etc was installed to allow the building to be used by a variety of local organisations.

Construction of St James Episcopal Church took place over many years, between 1873 and 1877-78 the nave was designed and built, the organ chamber and vestry were added in the early to mid 1880's along with the chancel. A break of 20 years then took plae before the addition of the baptistry in 1906. These additions greatly expanded the original rectangular building to the current plan as seen in the photograph.
