Glasgow; Demolished Places of Worship

There are dozens of demolished/destroyed and converted places of worship within Glasgow. The reasons are many and varied and range from buildings that were simply left unused after the congregation moved or united with a nearby church to those which were either unsafe, destroyed by fire or simply bulldozed during redevelopement of an area. Several churches were demolished during the 1800's to make way for the newly arrived railways, their sites being used for stations and/or goods yards.

The listings given are alphabetical, either by church name or by location where known, matching as closely as possible the main Glasgow Places of Worship images page. Brief details of the building can be found in most cases. In many cases the only source of images or these buildings are located at the libraries and archives in Glasgow.
