  • 1911 ETHEL ANNIE LEONARD - fresh pair of eyes needed please

I am helping a neighbour with this and I just cannot find Ethel Annie Leonard born 8/6/1904 Leamington, Warwickshire on the 1911 census.

Unfortunately, we only have a short birth cert with no parents' names on. On Ethel's marriage cert, her father is not described as deceased but as
Percival Leonard,a joiner. My neighbour clarifies that he was a ‘cabinet maker’.

She is going to see an elderly aunt in a month or so and I have given her a list of questions to get answered if she can. Ethel lived in Penwortham, Lancs by time of her marriage.

I have searched for both Ethel and her father, including searching for Ethel by her middle name in case she was known by that. Have checked out every Ethel that came up in any area but father not correct name.

Anyone fancy having a go? Thanks.

I am having to have a rest from the computer but will sign back in tonight.
    Liz

Thank you both - I missed that one and it is the right one. Now for a challenge...going further with discovering Ethel's father's sister's name, can you find her family in earlier censuses before she married in 1888?

              Just off to look myself.

Jane - you get the gold star award today! I can't find Mary Leonard in the census 1871 or 1881 yet.

I did an open search for just the surname Leonard with birthplace Leamington - nothing for Leamington.

Jane - just done an open search on Family Search for just surname of Leonard and place Leamington. This one looks promising:

Emily Martha Leonard Bap: 1857 Leamington, Warwick, England
                        Father: Fredrick Leonard Mother: Emma

                        Reference Number: - 2:2RMCQXP

Just off to check the others...

ADDED: another entry gives bap date: Bap: 15/11/1857

ok I know this is stretching things a fair bit....but could this possibly be them in 1871.

                                http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?h...=&pid=24208266

Frederick is now a carpenter and they are still in Lemington...but they have been noted as Reynolds??

all the other info from the 1861 census I found ties in...

Raven - you little beauty! How the heck did you find them with a different surname...They are not only the same family BUT they have Mary b1866 who is the woman we first started looking for. She was the aunt of Ethel Annie Leonard b1904.

BUT where is the elusive Percival (Percy) Leonard, Ethel's father? This is now the missing link...He was a joiner so the carpentry link might be relevant.

You and Jane have done brilliantly...

ADDED I have just sent corrections to Ancestry for the 1861 and 71 census.
