    Hi Chrissie,

I have looked at the Census that you sent me, and I seem to be a little bit confused at the moment. I seem to have found perhaps the same Samuel Worden, exercising the same job as agricultural labourer. He has a new wife apparently called Hannah Worden. Could this simply be a spelling error on the enumerators part? I don't think it really matters since the ages of the children correspond exactly on each census. Have a nice evening.

    • Which census was it please and in the census that you found, was Hannah approx 14 years younger than Samuel and born St Minver Cornwall? If so, then I would say it's likely the enumerator misheard. If not, then perhaps he had been married twice.

      • In 1851, Anna (Hannah) was 24 compared to Samuels 36. In 1861, she was 33 and Samuel was 47, in 1871, she was listed as 44 and Samuel 57, but she is there again in 1881 being 53 and Samuel is 62.

        • I have been getting some conflicting information for Josiah England. On this site:

Discover your family history. Explore the world’s largest collection of free family trees, genealogy records and resources.

You can see that his age is given as 67 and his wife, Betsy as 50. Also, take a good look at the same census and you will notice that he was born in Radstone, which only exists in Northamptonshire apparently. I have the certificates and he has put his profession down as Sailor, but in 1871, it states that he was an labourer. Perhaps it is possible that he worked with his brother-in-law Samuel Worden. However, in the 1881 census just before he died at the age of 69, he gives his occupation as formerly sailor. What do you think?

          • To update further this thread. I have now in my possession, my fathers birth certificate which is great news as I have never seen it. It would be great to get a long version of my own birth certificate since I only have the short version. One more thing, I have sent off for my grandparents marriage certificate so, slowly going in the right direction. Have a great evening people.

Robert England mar Martha Bennett 26th Sep 1809

John England born 11th Feb bap 13th Sep 1810 S.D parents Robert & Martha
Nathaniel Bennett? England bap 7th June 1812 S.D parents Robert & Martha
Robert William England bap 30th Oct 1814 S.D parents Robert & Martha abode Dock occ Mason.
Josiah Bennett England bap 20th Apr 1817 S.D parents Robert & Martha abode Dock occ Mason.

***Mary Ann England bap 3rd Feb 1823 parents Robert & Martha
***Louisa Jane England born 17 Dec 1825 parents Robert & Martha
***Elizabeth England born 4th Mar 1828 parents Robert & Martha

Those names in bold are the names I received from Mr Susan Old who is an Online Parish Clerk in Cornwall. All dates are exactly the same. The problem I am having is that, Maudarby includes Mary Ann, Louisa and Elizabeth England in the same family.

In this family tree http://trees.ancestry.co.uk/tree/167...rson/871934244 I see that they have included another two children and omitted others. Is it possible that they could simply be guessing rather than actually contacting the OPC to get the exact results? As I said in an earlier post, which has been confirmed by OC, Parish Clerks are more or less 100% because they work with exact names, dates and places from the original scripts.

Another thing I have found is that Nathaniel England (born 1812 Stoke Damerel) is shown as living in Liverpool and is married to Elizabeth England. He has disappeared in more recent censuses, and it looks as though his name is "Prataniel England who is married to Elizabeth England. I hope this is a spelling error.

              Robert
Well, I am back on the trail of the missing Englands again. Anyway, after extensive research, it seems that contrary to what is typed above, I have found an 1841 census for Robert England, which is transcribed as "Rubert Wilkerson." His wife and children are all Gaylard's. Now, one thing I noticed is that Josiahs father was a mason, and I have found on this census, that this Robert (born 1796) is a Mason. His wife is Martha Gaylard (mistake by transcriber I believe.) Secondly, in this census puts Robert as 45 and Martha as 49. Their oldest child is Louisa, who was born in 1826 (which is correct with the above information, give or take a year. They they have two other daughters; Caroline born in 1829, and Joanna born in 1832.
