Me neither, i think she went walkabout when the 1871 census was taken lol. I think i found wotsisface (John) Tucker in 1871 but no sign of Sophia.

On 1901 census Sophia and John Tucker are listed as inmates..to where? a prison? institution?

Sophia was in RG13 piece 170 folio 43 and John RG13 piece 170 folio 46 - both these fall within the range covering Holloway Prison

Thank you JudithM. So does that mean they were in prison for something they committed? by then they were in their 60s.

It does seem odd for them both to be in prison, doesn't it? I see Sophia was widowed by 1911 and an inmate in Islington workhouse, St John's Rd.

Thomas looks to have married Mary Elizabeth, they lived in Pancras for alot of years, had children, I cant as yet find a marriage, though there does seem to be another Thomas BURSELL with wife Emma I thnk it was born the same time as your thomas, so is easy to get confuddled, (This Thomas has a middle name of Joseph I think it was)

right, so after the 1851 when Joseph dies we have lost track of the children, until they marry, so they have to have been somewhere, don't they?

ooh I just noticed that the names have been transposed. I wonder if it is the same person?
