You are always better having your tree on your own computer. What if Ancestry went down, or you stopped being a member.
I think there are some good deals out there for programs that also have access to several months of Ancestry. You used to be able to get one with Tesco vouchers "deals" - not sure if you still can.
I would say go for a tree programme on your pc, you have easy access at any time and can create backup copies easily to avoid data loss and for sharing with relatives. Access to online trees means you are relying on companies for your internet connection, hosting and security, they have their uses for sharing your research but for building and editing your tree it's preferable to use an offline programme.
