Can any one help me to find the death of Eliza Matchan birth registered Skirlaugh Dec 1839, she never married and lived her life next to the Vicarage, Bilton, Swine, Skirlaugh, Yorkshire, England. She was a school mistress until her mother died when she then became her father's housekeeper. After his death she lived on an annuity. She last appears in the 1901 census. I cannot find her on the 1911 census. Also as she was a school teacher will she be on any other records??

I've looked at the Enumerator's list for Bilton. Joseph FELL is still the schoolmaster, but there's no household listed between his and the Vicar's, Revd Mr COLE.
If Eliza were still alive at the time, she's moved (or been moved) to somewhere else.
other family?
hospital?
workhouse?
unsuspected late marriage?
She doesn't show up on the Yorks BMD deaths - but then she doesn't show up on the births, either.

Not sure - there are a number of Matchan in Skirlaugh - have you matched them up to the info you do have? http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl
Patrington looks like it's not too far from Skirlaugh..seems like they've not been transcribed correctly perhaps..can you see a Matcham that would fit?

That's really good to know that you have managed to make a connection.
