Help! I'm stuck!!!
I have a John Topliff died 1867 aged 32 years, Carnforth, Lancaster a Railway Engine Driver.(got certificate)
He was married twice.(got certificates)
1st to Emma Fletcher in 1857 at the Parish Church, St Werburgh, Derby. The certificate states that John Toplis, 22, bachelor was a Fitter and his father was William Toplis a Labourer.
On Emmas death certificate of 1858 it says John is a Rialway labourer.
2nd to Elizabeth Feakes in 1861 at the Parish Church of St Peters, Derby. The certificate states that John Topliff, widower, was a Fire man and his father was William Topliff an Ostler.
After looking at all the census the only mention of a John Topliff is in 1861, unmarried, aged 30, a Fireman born Rocester, Staffordshire living at 7 Oxford Street, Litchurch.
I cannot find John in the 1841 or 1851 census.
I cannot find his father William Topliff/Topliss any where.
Can anyone please help?
