  • Guidelines for using Research Requests forum

If you have a request you wish to be undertaken at a specific location then initially you should see if another member has offered their services in the Research Offers section of the Reference Library:
PLEASE NOTE THAT MANY OF THESE OFFERS HAVE COME FROM MEMBERS WHO MAY NO LONGER VISIT THE SITE .
IF THEIR CONTACT DETAILS ARE OUT OF DATE, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CONTACT THEM.

If you cannot find any offer of help then post a thread in this forum. When starting your new thread select the appropriate prefix for your request. As defined in the following list:
    • Cemetery: For an action at a Cemetery or Graveyard.
    • Probate: For a lookup at a specific probate office.
    • Library: For a lookup at a specific library.
    • Record Office: For any type of genealogical lookup at a record office.
    • Photographs: For a photo relating to your genealogical research.

Secondly, in the title field of the thread enter the place and location names for your request, for example:
    • Photographs: All Saints Church, Harlow Hill, Harrogate
    • Probate: Holborn, London

Finally, on the first post of the thread enter a brief but detailed description of what is wanted, for example:
    • Photo of grave of Fred Bloggs, died dd/mm/yyyy, grave reference number (plus any other important information)

Thereafter, presuming someone can help, further discussion can be entered into either on the thread or by personal message, whichever the two parties prefer.

When your request has been actioned please leave a message to that effect on the thread.

If your request doesn't come under any of the listed prefixes then please seek advice from a moderator or admin.
