  • Help required finding the brewer family.

    Hi

I have James Brewer living with his wife Elizabeth and Children in 1851 ( see census below for reference).

    James Brewer
    Age: 49
    Estimated Birth Year: abt 1802
    Relation: Head
    Spouse's Name: Elizabeth
    Gender: Male
Where born: Black Notley, Essex, England
    Civil parish: Black Notley
    County/Island: Essex
    Country: England
    Street Address:

    Name Age
    James Brewer 49
    Elizabeth Brewer 48
    Emma Brewer 14
    Elizabeth Brewer 11
    George Brewer 8
    Susannah Brewer 3

However, There after they all seem to disappear. I am not sure whether they all went their separate ways as the older children would be independent by 1861, but I can't find George and Susannah in 1861. There is a possible death for Susannah in 1853, but what happened to James and Elizabeth (her parents). A fresh pair of eyes and ideas would be very appreciated on this one.

    Many thanks, Sandra

Is them in 1861 mistranscribed as Breever?

        Hi Sue and Ayse,

I think you have found them. Many thanks. You don't know how much time I have spent looking for this family. They have not been easy - even their older sister Eliza born 1828 was difficult. She married someone much older than her who died some time after 1861. I eventually managed to find her second marriage!!

I wonder whether James and Elizabeth died after 1861?

I am still trying to establish what happened to James and Elizabeth after 1861. I can not find death entries which 'fit'.

Also, on the 1861 entry James' sister is living with them. I have found Sarah living with he mother in 1851 but can not find them on the 1841 census. If any one could help me find them in 1841 I may be able to discover more about James' parentage.

          Thanks, Sandra

                  Hi Gwen,

Thanks for taking the time to try and help. However, I have James and Elizabeth on the 1841 census - it was Sarah Brewer born c1806 (Sister of James) and her mother Sarah c1780 that I was hoping to find.

However, the death registrations look like possibilities.

                        Hi Paul,

To be honest I don't know, but I don't think so. James Brewer's wife Elizabeth was, I think, a Hutley, their eldest daughter Eliza married James Joscelyn and Samuel Hunnibell and I think that Elizabeth Brewer married a Cable!!

                        Thanks, Sandra

                          Hi Kyle,

No I haven't. I will give that a go and see if it comes up with anything. I never seem to have the success at finding things on ancestry. Other people just seem to get results in a blink of an eye - obviously I have got the knack yet!!!

                          Thanks for the suggestion.
