There's an interesting resource for family history research in Singapore and Malaysia; the digitised version of the Straits Times (not sure if it's been posted here before):
Newspapers
The newspapers haven't been digitised very well: they've used an OCR program without checking the results, so you may need to be a bit creative with your searches.
I've also found that a Google search of the site sometimes brings up some hits that don't come up using its internal search page. Put your search term into Google as usual, followed by site:http*://newspapers.nl.sg (remove asterisk).
Only the first part of each article can be read online; the full article's only available at libraries in Singapore.
I've found numerous articles about two of my Malets, so I've just e-mailed to ask if it's possible to obtain the full articles somehow from outside Singapore.
I'll report back when they reply.
