Could Claire be Clara? I would be very interested to know what other details there may be on this one.

          Thanks

Ellis Island - FREE Port of New York Passenger Records Search might provide a record of the original family member that went to the US. Provided that they passed there...

You can click on all the pages free of charge. Only if you want a copy you have to pay. I recommend clicking to the next and previous page because most files consist of two pages.

There is also the colour of their eyes, hair and length plus family member they left behind and whom they were going to join.

Great info if you are lucky.

                  goog luck.

There were several hits for William UPWOOD, though.

Are you sre he never went to see anyone?

                                    Hi Chrissie

If this William Upwood's father was William H Upwood and had been been living in the town of Windsor in Ontario then I may have found his passage details to Michigan in 1928 he states his next of kin was his father William H Upwood and that he was going to see his own sister but I can't make out the name as it is faded on the image I think it reads Mrs Geo' Terallar.

He travelled alone and was single. His Occ was that of a Salesman.

You'll have to send me a Pm with your email addy in it and then I can forward it on for you to see I'm not sure I'll get away with posting the image on here for all to see

Forgot to add that he travelled on the 1/4/1928 that his age shows him as being 22 years and 2 months and that he was born in North Leyton Essex

                                        Hi Chrissie

Found another Detroit passenger listing for him in 1925 where is age is 20 and he went there for work and his last permantent address was with his sister Mrs Alice Timms of 324a Park St Windsor Ontario. I can't see the full date of travel as there were two passenger card overlapping
