  • Help!!! Edward and Henry Ferrie!

    Hi
I have just got through the post my Great grandparents' marriage certificate, and I now know more about Edward Ferrie my Grandfather's dad.
He was born in 1906 or very late in December in 1905.
He was a Twister at Jute Hill in Doncaster. If anyone knows what that is please let me know!
His Father was a Henry Ferrie, who was a General Labourer. I think he was from Scotland.
Can anyone help me find Edward birth record now or anything about his dad? As i have tried searching and I am having no luck, and I really want to order certificates for Edward and his dad Henry.
If anyone could help me find records for either of them I would be so grateful.
I know they were both from Scotland, but Edward got married in Doncaster.
Look forward to any help I get. Thanks so much

    Carrie-Anne

Have you checked Scotland's People for his birth?

I'll answer the easy question first!
A twister was a person who worked a machine twisting yarns or threads.

By the way, did you see the replies I left on your thread about the Butler/Rosier families?

Hi I have found their his birth record online.
But I can't make out his father's job and his mother's surname, and the streets they were living on as I can't read the handwriting. If anyone could read it and tell me what it says I will be grateful.
Also I found he was illegitiamte so that explains a few things. He is from Dundee in Scotland.
I will email it to anyone, who will have a go for me.
          Look forward to replies.
          Thanks

I did thank you. Sorry I didn't reply, I have not been very well, so this has been the first chance to be on the computer for a little while. I am so grateful for what you found out, thanks so much.
Also thanks for what that job is, I didn't have a clue!

No problem. Was just worried that you hadn't found the thread again!

I'll have a look at the birth certificate for you - I'll send you my email address by pm.

                I'm confused!
Are you looking for Edward's birth record or do you have it?

Can you give us some details so that we can find the right one - either the reference or the name given in the census plus year and place of birth - also county and place of census.

I thought it might be Bottler but the double 't' didn't look quite right!
