    Question Moss , Staffordshire

    Can anyone help me.
I am looking for the parents of Joseph Moss born c1801 Staffordshire and also the surname of his wife Ann c1806 Staffordshire. They are listed in the 1841 census living in Kingsley Moor, Kingsley, Staffordshire with 7 children; John b 1826, Hannah, b 1828 William b 1830, Sarah b 1832, Ellen b 1834, Esther b 1836 and Joseph b 1839 all of Staffordshire.

Also I am looking for the parents (and children) of John Moss who married Ann Evans 05 Jan 1713 Cheadle, Staffordshire. I know of 2 of their children: John b 1719, and Lydia b 1729 both in Cheadle, Staffordshire.

As far as I know Joseph Moss and John Moss are not related but just happen to occur in different branches of my tree.

The IGI has this marriage, which looks good?

Joseph Moss & Ann Whitehurst 22 Jun 1823 Kingsley, Stafford

    It's an extracted entry

There's a Joseph Moss baptised Kingsley 18 Jun 1797, parents John and Elizabeth in the IGI
FamilySearch.org - Family History and Genealogy Records

Also a marriage to Ann Whithurst 22 Jun 1823 also at Kingsley

    Could they be yours?

For John and Ann's children there are these 3 entries for Cheadle but they are submitted not extracted so should be treated with caution - you need to cinfrim them with the parish register:

    HANNAH MOSS
Christening: 10 SEP 1723 Cheadle, Stafford, England

    LIDIA MOSS
Christening: 07 AUG 1729 Cheadle, Stafford, England

    WM. MOSS
Christening: 08 OCT 1727 Cheadle, Stafford, England

Lindsay's right, you should try and get a look at the parish registers.

Joseph & Ann had two children named Joseph, there's also a daughter Avis who both may have died before 1841 census.

To find possible children to Joseph & Ann, I put Joseph Moss in the father's name & just Ann for the mother. Leave the child's name blank.

Then choose birth/christening for the event.

    region: British Isles
    country: England
    county: stafford

That will bring up a long list, I just looked for the Kingsley christenings.

This is the link for the search page I used:
    http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Sear...set_search.asp

    hope that helps

oops!! should have said: click on the IGI from menue on left
