The Sisters of Nazareth ran four Nazareth Houses in Scotland all of which have been the subject of an ongoing long and deep serious inquiry into physical, mental and sexual abuse of the children in their care. The Sisters of Nazareth were not the only order of Roman Catholic nuns to have been found at fault during the enquiry. The notorious Smyllum Park orphanage in Lanark was run by the Daughters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul. There have been many other variations on a theme.
The inquiry began in 2015 and the next stage is due to commence this October. If you can stand to read the articles (they are very painful reading) then Google “The Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry”.
I am with OC on this one. I am not at all a religious person but should there be such a place as hell, these apologies for human beings should rot in it.
