I apply them to seperate layers and then change the layer to color mode and adjust the opacity.

                    Nice one Wendy
Try increasing the pixel width to about 450 and post it on here again.
Also, you could have a go at a little blusher just to liven up her cheeks.

Rachel how do you put blusher on without it looking like a patch? How do you feather the edges?

For blusher you either mix a colour or you can use the lipstick colour.

You need a very soft brush and take the opacity down a lot.

Use the blur tool to soften the flesh and also to get rid of those halos around the edges. But, once again, do not use at 100% strength otherwise you could get a slimy mess ! :D

For the background, you can use the blur tool at 100% ... a hard brush is probably easier for this one but watch out when you get near the subject ... change the brush size to something small.

I'll do a quickie using your pic if that's OK

Ooooo you did it while I was typing ....
                            That's good

I've never used the airbrush !

Here's your pic (# 28) twiddled with and enlarged .. don't forget the whites of her eyes.

How about adding a background colour ?

To get rid of the 'halos' around the mouth and hairline, use the blur tool at abt 36% and a soft brush but be careful not to interfere with her lips

                                  Nice choice of colour.
You could do a more solid background like this

Follow Brian's instructions for 'Fixing A Blown Out Sky'

Then use your blur tool and go round the edges, otherwise she'll look like a cut-out ;)
