Well whatever you did, it's great. The only other photo I have of my grandfather is in army uniform during WWI, but this one shows him when he was a lot younger.

Once again thank you very much Rachel.

Like I said in my video Wendy you got to use what you have in the photo, there is just a bit of curtain left, so you use that bit clone it and repeat the patten untill you have a curtain shape and maybe use a bit of paint if you have to, I think also a fair bit of imagination is needed and most of all time. Remember you can only fix whats there, if its missing then its gone forever.

I also think you can play with a photo for ages to make it better...but you got to know when to stop and remember what is was like when you first started, as long as it looks alot better then your doing something right.

I think some photo's are real hard to fix and you got to do the best you can with the time that you have available.

I think you are doing great and you will only get better with time.

right I will stop now, I am going on a bit...starting to sound like my old women hahaha

Looks like Rachel used her imagination, its not even a curtain...looks like some sort of plaster molding.

Good Job Rachel...not a easy photo.

If you look closely at the original you will see that I used the pattern and created a new drape from that, using rotate and warp to give it a curve.
The fainter drapery (which disappears behind the girl's head) was taken from a previous photo of Wendy's, given the same sort of treatment and then faded to make it drop back.
The bottom part of the dress was taken from a different photograph and rescaled and her left hand was borrowed from a photo of my grandmother ~~~ rescaled and rotated.
Missing piece of chair leg was simple cloning.

An interesting but time-consuming exercise ~~~~ worth it as far as I'm concerned.
