Ok, I have ordered the marriage cert for Thomas and Mary Ann, hopefully it will be the right one. Unfortunately I probably won't recieve it for a couple weeks :( but I will know either way if we are heading in the right direction....in the mean time I will continue searching......

Are you saying that County Clare isn't included in the Irish national BMD indexes, or that the transcribers will have gone through transcribing all the rest but deliberately ignoring the County Clare ones??? And if so, why would they do that?

I'd just like to thank everyone that assisted me with my brickwall. Hopefully we have begun to unravel a ball of yarn that leads me on a more conclusive trail. I'm hoping the marriage cert. that I ordered will confirm a connection; I will let you know the outcome.
In the mean time I will plod along trying to find these elusive "Sullivan's" in 1891 and with any luck I will be able to add another piece to this never ending puzzle. Thanks again!
