Hi Ben, I find you George Coombs interesting.
I have a George Hallett (later used the name Coombs) baptised 28 Dec 1812 Axminster, Devon and died 1895, Marylebone, Middlesex, this George Coombs was an Inspector Metropolitan Police and used the surname Coombs when his parents got married.
His parents were Goerge Coombs baptised 20 Aug 1758 Axminster, Devon. died 11 Jun 1830 Axminster, Devon. (He left a will). And Elizabeth Hallett 1799 - 1847 Axminster, Devon. They got married on 25th Dec 1814 Axminster, Devon. I think this may of been this George Coombs second marriage, I think below, George Thomas Coombs was his son from the first marriage, but isn't memtion in the will becuase his son died before his will was made.
I also have a George Thomas Coombs 1788 - 1822 Axminster, Devon, was at the above wedding. This George Thomas Coombs married Elizabeth Mills 1787 - 1812 Axminster, Devon, They got married on 3 Jan 1810 and this Elizabeth died the same year without having any children.
Ben, how do you know the age of your George Coombs?
