      I can't find a marriage to a Selina.

Selina and John were both born in Berkshire (all this is from playing with FMP index)

We need to find someone with a full sub to FMP :(

      Is Selina actually Ann??!!! LOL

She is from Streatley Berks. If you look at the 1861, 71 and 1881 census there is only one Selina from Streatley and her surname is Langford. She was born 1860 though, whilst John's wife says she was born abt 1854. There's no marriage for Selina Langford and no death anywhere near the right age.

Of course, once John has died, Selina vanishes off the face of the earth.

Mind you, did she have a baby whilst a "widow"??

OK this is my conculsion so far.

                      John and Ann marry 1876

                      Edward is born 1878

                      Ann dies 1880

(we need to find John in 1881)

John shacks up with Selina - don't know when but before 1891

                      John dies 1892

                      Selina vanishes .......

I thought that FMP might have given different info than I found on ancestry, just wondered if you found the marriage betwen John Barton and Ann Hicks on there

Oh right.....No, I only checked the marriage on FreeBMD.

I'll have a harder try for a marriage to Selina.

                                I give up.....I can't find John in 1881.

I still think it's very likely that Ann died in 1880 and John and Selina got together later.

Have just come across your search for the missing Baston. If you try looking on the Baston family Forum (it may have changed its name since I last checked), Ron Baston has a great website and you may find more Bastons that you could wish for! I am from the Baston line from Abingdon, Reading and Hungerford, Berks. Are you looking for any links from these areas? Jackie (nee Baston)
