  • Gale Newspapers Look Up

Have been looking on A2A and found the following reference to what I think is a relative from the Middlesex Sessions of Peace:

St Matthew Bethnal Green: Francis Bellinger: Hanged himself while 'lunatic' - ref. MJ/SPC/E/1859 [n.d.]

I hope eventually to get down to the LMA and view the document, but in the meantime wondering if anyone who still has Gale acesss could see if the case was reported anywhere in the newapapers of 1859?

    Thanks

Can't help with papers at the moment (not yet got to Bedford to activate my library card).

I am wondering in the /1859 ref is a date ref or just a number. I can't see a death registered for any Francis in Middlesex that year that looks like this chap.

according to the newspaper report about Julia she had 12 children

one of them is EUgene who was 16 in 1866 (when she died)

she is Julia Susannah Bellinger and her mother whom she lived with after husband abandoned her c1859 is Mrs Anne Clempson

he is George Bellinger, a Weaver, who went off to live with another woman at Brick Lane

She lived at 46 Sebright Street Bethnal Green

another address given (place of death) is 7 Havelock Place

The newspaper report is ringing bells - I'm sure we've had a discussion on here about whether or not Julia was anorexic

Julia's maiden name was Clemetson or Clementson (not Clempson)

                              She married George in 1838

BUT - it looks like surname could be Bellenger
