      Balmaidens Website

Thanks for all the positive feedback. :D. The site has a free searchable database of nearly 24,000 women & girls who worked at the metal mines of Cornwall & Devon. There are also indexes of names mentioned in the 1842 Commission on the Employment of Children in the Mines, for Cornwall, Cumberland, Durham, Northumberland, and Forest of Dean.

Oh, I didn't know the site wasn't in the WIKI, I've had it in my favourites for ages:o My great granny, Mary Ann JOHNS and her sisters Jane and Maria were all Bal Maidens in Cornwall before they married.

Hi Vivienne. Just found FTF a couple of days ago as a result of following links to our balmaidens website. Nice to see our website reaching more people. Lynne & Peter
