  • Children Boarded Out

I've found, in the workhouse section of my birth town site, my Mums three cousins. (Their mother was sister of my grandad)
They're classed as Boarded out, and I knew they were brought up by other family members after the death of their parents but not that they were 'Boarded out' like this. There's also mention of payment made -it says 'from Jan 1912 ..........left by Oct 1915'. Does this mean they were in the Workhouse during that period ? The relatives they went on to grow up with are classed as Foster Parents.
Can anyone enlighten me on this one ?

Put 'boarding out' in the search box and click on the second result. It gives an explanation at the bottom of the page.
