Sorry Val - bad choice of colour there on my part - anything BLUE in the wiki you can click on and it will take you somewhere else

Val, I got my certificates from the County Hall, High Street, Newport. That is the same place where we registered my FIL's death. Not the Northwood address. The Records Office don't issue them.

It's that old confusion about the names: Record Office (Archives and such) and Register Office (Official registration & certs)!

            Christine
Researching: BENNETT (Leics/Birmingham-ish) - incl. Leonard BENNETT in Detroit & Florida ; WARR/WOR, STRATFORD & GARDNER/GARNAR (Oxon); CHRISTMAS, RUSSELL, PAFOOT/PAFFORD (Hants); BIGWOOD, HAYLER/HAILOR (Sussex); LANCASTER (Beds, Berks, Wilts) - plus - COCKS (Spitalfields, Liverpool, Plymouth); RUSE/ROWSE, TREMEER, WADLIN(G)/WADLETON (Devonport, E Cornwall); GOULD (S Devon); CHAPMAN, HALL/HOLE, HORN (N Devon); BARRON, SCANTLEBURY (Mevagissey)...

              It is indeed

What I was trying to do was actually help Val negociate the wiki - she says she finds it hard - and is brave enough to say so.

I was just trying to point out some of the stuff that is in there , not what Val should or shouldn't use

No, Jess - I didn't mean you were giving Val the wrong info - it was simply an observation/reminder for others looking in - at least partly because the same issue surfaced on another thread a few days ago.

No - if people want help on any aspect of the board - or even for things outside it - it makes sense to ask, because people here accept that we're all on different stages of the various relevant "learning curves" and can help each other.

Definitely one to avoid! Twenty five pounds for a certificate!

Especially as it seems you can order online from the IoW Register Office, using the info from the IoW FHS site! And pay the standard £7 fee.
