    1860- Chelsea Pensioner

1861 Census in Hull,Yorks b1816 Saltfleetby Married with son Jonas age 9 born Canada. No sign of "wife".
Zaccheus died 10 Apr1862. buried at Saltfleetby.

Workhouse Admissions and Discharges show Jonas age 12 with mother Eliza Hutton age 40(Widow of soldier) in Greenwich Workhouse 1863 - 1864. Charges to Woolwich Parish.
Apart from a School Register saying mother in workhouse I can find nothing more at all.

Can anyone find Jonas's birth in Canada and any other info for them after 1863?
    Thanks
PS. There is a tree on Ancestry but a lot of the info is wrong!

            £19 3s 4d won't go very far! He had 16 children - admittedly only 6 survived him.

I was hoping for a baptism for Jonas in Canada - don't know how I missed that birth. I have British Army baps from the Cape, South Africa c1860-65 but the Army records were more detailed about where they were posted so much easier to find.

LOL I thought I might find a baptism too but no joy in ancestry or FMP so far.

Woo Hoo! Thanks for the marriage Elaine. Just got back from Sheffield after seeing 'We will Rock You' so doubly happy tonight.
That all ties in with the 2nd marriage. I had seen this marriage and have it in my shoe box but couldn't connect it not having a maiden name for Eliza/beth.
Henry was a gunner in the Royal Artillery too and joined up in 1846 age 22. He was in Canada, Crimea and India and a Chelsea Pensioner from 1847 so must have known Zaccheus.
He was a butcher by trade so will look for them tomorrow now hoping Jonas is with them. Thanks again

                          Hi Kat

I couldn't find them 1871 but believe they both died after 1871 looking at death regs. Have you had any luck?

                          Just delving back in!

I had a look this morning quickly as have had busy day . I found this one for Eliza b Ireland. What do you think?

DOB a bit out but then we haven't had any baptism or census to go on. I wonder if she went to Canada with her parents from Ireland and met Zaccheus there.

I think Henry's death is the Uxbridge one 1873, death noted in the 1873 col.

Waverley cottages (and the streets nearby) has soldiers living in them in 1871, so assume that they are owned by the military, not that I can see her there.
