    Reuben Miles

I have found a lot of records and newspaper clippings for my above ancestor and added them to the gallery
    https://www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tr...07477887/facts

probably a stupid question but are there any other records that I can find to give me a clue how he got all the property that was sold in his will.

I can't actually find his first wife as I know he was a widower when he married my ancestor Lydia Thornloe, and I also know he has a step daughter Jane on his death.

He must have had property early on as found tax record in Brubb Street

I have a timeline for the newspaper cuttings
    Oct 14 1848
takes on the Broad Arrow, Milton Street.

    18 Houses Crown court
    95 Milton street
    12 Houses in Camden Court

    17 November 1853
    Renting out the eating house

Feb 21 1856 assets for sale following his death:

2 houses with shops in Type Street, Finsbury
6 houses in Broad Arrow Court, Milton Street
Large house and coffee shop, Milton Street
    12 houses adjoining Camden Court

Was inspired to 'write a story' about him following on from PaulC posts - but can't quite piece him together.

I have been looking Carolyn at the marriages. I note that the Will referring to Reuben's stepdaughter Jane refers to her being maried to William ?? thought it was Edwards or maybe begins with a C of Northampton. What do you think?
For both marriages to Jane Bullock and Elizabeth Gibbs that Reuben recorded as Bachelor. Jane Bullock is a Widow. Wonder if she was a rich one

Thanks Vera, I don't think there is anywhere else to look will have to keep searching newspapers - every now and again I have a new look in case I missed something or new papers have come on.

I have now established that I had the wrong parents for Samuel Wilson (the son in law) by looking over all of this again, so all is not lost. And I now confident I have the right ones now, as Samuels will mentions his brothers. It is Samuel's mother that marries Reuben for the last year of his life! So my Gr gr gr grandmother married my gr gr gr grandfather.

I did wonder if Jane she had some money as he seems to have gone up in the world! I saw Samuel and made it into Edmunds, but couldn't find any link or any record, I didn't spot the bachelor on the marriages, so Elizabeth must be wrong, although I found no other Reuben Miles in the area and it was the same church.

I was looking a bit further up the Will record for Jane's husband. I saw the Edmunds a bit further down. If we could identify Jane's husbands name we may get a marriage and hopefully she is a Bullock. Or is that going round the houses a bit.

Good you got the right extended family by refreshing.

wow - how did you do that that is amazing

she is older than I thought, Reuben was b 1891 so Jane the elder must be born at least 1880.
