  • I am in a muddle Pepper family

    Hello
I am really confused about a lady called Elizabeth Pepper. Born/baptised in 1819 in Horbling Lincolnshire.
    Parents Edward and Ann

I was looking at hints in Ancestry and all the trees say she married Francis Picker which I agree with. They then have this lady going to USA. New York Passenger list arrival date 6th May 1852.
It does say Elizabeth Pecker not Picker. it then says nationality and place of origin Ireland.

This is where I am confused. Am I wrong in my tree or is this not my Elizabeth.
    Any thoughts appreciated
    Ann

On the 1870 USA Census it gives Francis' occupation as Brick mason.
His marriage cert shows both he and his father as bricklayers:

Re Ireland - most of the ships bound for the USA called at Ireland en route. There may have been two manifests - one which recorded those on board when the ship left England, and a second one which recorded ALL passengers once she left Ireland. Those travelling from England may have been allowed to disembark for a couple of hours whilst goods were loaded and the Irish contingent detailed and settled on board - in which case they had all BOARDED in Ireland for that leg of the journey! We have no means of knowing how questions were interpreted.
