I'm sure we all would love to help Val. We know from the last 12 years or so what a complicated tree you have. Just give us a good solid starting point with this one

1891 census mistranscribed using family above- I see you already have already added alternate info for Knight.
Begin your discovery today by exploring the world's largest online family history resource!

        George Gard 52
        Elizabeth Gard 46
        Marry Gard 13
        Annette Gard 8
        John Gard 1
        Clara Gard 5
        Frederick Gard 18
        Jannette Gard 7

There is a birth reg for Antoinette for 1882
However in 1901 there is a Harriet b 1882 and no Antoinette.
Also there isn't a Harriet Birth Reg. Possibly they are one and the same.

I cannot see Antoinette on 1901 anywhere else but she marries 1903
        Name: Antoinette Kought
        [Antoinette Knight]
        Marriage Age: 21
        Record Type: Marriage
        Birth Date: abt 1882
        Marriage Date: 4 Oct 1903
Marriage Place: St Barnabas, Rotherhithe, Southwark, England
        Father: George Kought
        Spouse: Daniel Ogrady
        Register Type: Parish Register

These 9 are not on any census:
unknown Knight b 1867, George, Jane, Emma, Selina, Arthur, Ernest, another George 1887, and Mary Ann.
        Will look for others later.

Jim died April 1885 • Camberwell, London age 2
          Edit:
This could be the unnamed child's death - right age and place by 1870
          KNIGHT, MARGARET 3
GRO Reference: 1870 M Quarter in SAINT OLAVE SOUTHWARK Volume 01D Page 190
As far as I can see we have 1 birth and death to make the 1911 births and deaths correct

Would the unknown Knight have died? soon after birth? Had a quick check but couldn't see anything gro.

I have recently looked for someone in our family who wasn't named, we couldn't find on GRO death, but have grave etc and found them on deceased on line.

hi and thanks for looking , and I feel awful but that is the family that isn't mine , I have spent hours deleting them.
              Mine is

George Daniel Knight born 1840 Bermondsey, dont know when he died but could be in 1890 Southwark?

Elizabeth Mason born 1843 West London, dont know when she died

They married in 1863 St Olaves Southwark

dont have them in any census after marriage ?

              Children that I have found

Mary Louisa Elizabeth Knight born 1866 Bermondsey in 1871 is with Elizabeth's Sister Sarah A Mason

              After that dont know

William John Knight 1868-1868 Born and died Bermondsey

Thomas George Knight 1870-1871 Born and died St Olave Southwark

Sarah Louisa Knight 1872 St Olave Southwark

George Frederick Knight 1875 St Olave Southwark

Louisa Knight 1877-1880 Born and died St Olave Southwark

Emily Knight 1879-1880 Born and died St Olave Southwark

Think this may be Sarah Louisa and George in 1881

Thomas George was starved to death and died in Aug 1871, they were tried for Manslaughter , would have thought they would be in the census in 1871

is the Mothers name Mason or Turner?

Which census are you missing? I will probably be playing on computer at library tomorrow afternoon whilst husband has dialysis, I wait for him as we have to travel a reasonable distance.

there doesn't seem t be anymore on the GRO for that maiden name, a few north of the river Shoreditch, Pancras and Holborn.

So just the 1911 census though? or is that the Elizabeth Turner?

Have you seen these school records - not sure if they are your Sarah. One I think says Sarah or Rose - which may mean they are not yours, but she may have been called rose as a nickname. Another says mother in the house, and this one says deserted.

Well Val, if someone with that lot in their tree see this thread online they are going to be pleased I've gone down the wrong route myself as have countless others. The main thing is realising it, proving/disproving it and moving on.

I saw the clips of the trail someone had posted on Ancestry - I assume you had them? and these were in 1871, She is referred to as 'the prisoner', so she must be on the census for the prison. Will go and look and see if prison name is on there an whether time of year mentioned.

Yes Carolyn have that record, I did see that marriage too ,but dismissed it as it says Father is a Lighterman?? although I suppose he could have had to change occupation?

I kind of felt that his occupation was 'changeable' having read the newspaper article, but not sure how skilled you need to be a lighterman. Will investigate.

The other family are worth seeing on here as we know they are wrong, but they are the ones in the 1911 census? so that is wrong too?

Elizabeth's father was a coffee house keeper, is that the right one? so thought it was fitting that his grand daughter could be working for one.

the 1911 census is right for the wrong family George Richard Knight and Elizabeth Turner.
I really am so annoyed with myself for assuming when his daughters married they said Father George Richard, I just assumed they did not know it was George Daniel?? goes to show I must not assume anything.
Yes Elizabeth's Father was John Mason a Coffee House Keeper, he died in an asylum in 1872.

so what records are you missing?

So number of children are a red herring, and maybe have them all, as no 1911 census, judging by the newspaper article maybe she never made it
