Still can't find Letitia on GRO and she was born (1841) before 1857 - so looks like he was married before Jane Musgrove.

Just realised he is widowed (had misread Letitia as his wife - but is his mother on 1851 census, so think GRO records for MALPAS might be right? - as that is in Ludlow.

great pics - like the explanations of the colours. The BBC program was interesting, it explained the different types of straw, and the certain types gave a finer weave. I am fascinated by all this history. What has surprised me is that it is Dunstable that is mentioned as the place for straw bonnets, and not Luton.

Yes, and assume it to be Sarah Malpas. I can find a rather strange marriage in Westminster, the image of the pallots marriage seems to say Salop - can't read the rest as out of focus.

also a brother Edward and an Eleanor - but think she maybe a relation

yes that is what I found and her brother. I think this must be the Sarah that was mentioned on original post and she died long before Henry.

It goes on to name Frances's children again Fanny Dixon, Mary Ann Feltham, Elizabeth Bennett and there is a son John Dixon.

I can't quite make out the brothers surname, but there are brothers John and David
