    great summary Elaine, and good find. I did a public tree for Karen on ancestry, to try and make some sense of it.

    I see the tree (sure I had seen before and not noticed) has more siblings for Fanny, and they look reasonable.

    Dunstable/Luton was famous for straw plaiters, wonder if that is what took her there.

    I have added the wilts baptisms, but not confident, Marlborough seems a way from Hindon/Salisbury. will have a look tomorrow if I get a chance.

    Obviously a career lady with her own business, I am always pleased to see things like that

    I just did a quick search for Dixon and straw in BNA and can see she has a few mentions - I don't have a sub so not able to see full article. There is one that says she has returned from Dunstable, so she must have visited milliners there...just down the road from me.

    I watched the BBC program recently Made in Britain ? where they followed trades through the centuries and hats was one.
