  • Help with wording on Removal Order

...paid all rent and taxes until 1857. ???? ????. Done no work since. £6 given. cash(?) accepted in consequence of accident.

(Actually that's interesting as he died in Shoreditch infirmary - cause of death was a gangrenous leg.)

Why I wonder would he not accept it?

Could the first word after 1857 be 'receipt' ?

I thought the word could be receipt.

Done no act since (as in, done no act since to gain settlement elsewhere)

              Could it be 'provided'?

                ....or 'produced'?

Oh yes - produced I think. Thanks Glen.
I still don't think it is 'not accepted'. No matter how proud he may have been, I don't think he would have turned his nose up at £6

Don't know what it is but don't think it's a pound sign & the not accepted is the removal order because of the fact that he had been injured.

Have had a look through the book at a lot of entries and cannot see another example although it is definitely an F not a £ sign - perhaps a workhouse code/ref number.
