  • 1871 anybody??

    Morning all.

I'm having a little problem trying to locate a family in 1871.

Mary Ann Brown b.1809 her POB can either be Kirkby/Sutton/Basford or Hoveringham and her daughter Elizabeth Brown b.1846 in Kirkby

    for ref: 1861: https://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bi...try&h=22104611
    Source Citation
    Class: RG 9; Piece: 2433; Folio: 111; Page: 42; GSU roll: 542970

Mary Ann was a widow as her husband William had died in 1859. Elizabeth didn't marry her first husband until 1872. [John Gregory Bond] They both lived in Kirkby in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. [usually Church Street or Hockley]

I have them all through census bar this and i'm just trying to tidy them up and kill them off etc.. as these are my maternal gt gt grandparents it'd be nice to have it complete.

    sorry for the long post.

That link you put up is 1871 Julie. So I'm a bit confused. Which census are you looking for?

It looks as though Mary Ann Brown possibly married James Walters in June 1862 Basford 7b 201.
      So this is 1861 - https://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bi...&rhSource=7619
      and your link is 1871 i.e. https://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bi...&rhSource=8767

I have been looking and Mary Ann seems to have reverted to bond after 1871. Did she die in Basford in 1896 aged 87?

I have Mary Ann Brown and Elizabeth Brown/Bond/Brackner

            1851: https://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bi...&rhSource=8767
            Source Citation
            Class: HO107; Piece: 2125; Folio: 63; Page: 50; GSU roll: 87755

            1861: see above.

            1871: ?

            1881: https://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bi...&rhSource=7619
            Source Citation
            Class: RG11; Piece: 3323; Folio: 39; Page: 71; GSU roll: 1341792

            1891: https://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bi...&rhSource=7572
            Source Citation
The National Archives of the UK (TNA); Kew, Surrey, England; Class: RG12; Piece: 2662; Folio: 17; Page: 29

I'm pretty sure that Mary Ann dies sometime between 1891-1901 as I haven't found her on census after '91. I have found another Mary Ann Brown working as a housekeeper in 1871 in Blidworth but she was born in 1811.

            1871: https://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bi...&rhSource=8860
            Source Citation
            Class: RG10; Piece: 3475; Folio: 20; Page: 6; GSU roll: 839427

though I don't think that this is 'my' Mary Ann.

the other 1871 with Murgan Walters is what I have attached as 'my' Mary Ann & Elizabeth as dates fit just name is different!

            it's driving me mad!

and also the death came for Elizabeth's grandmother Elizabeth Brown though again I am not sure just who the person is that registered the death.
