  • Help with identifying the bride, please

Please don't waste any time researching the groom as I know who he is. It's the bride I can't place before the wedding. (They had two daughters, registered Q1 1919 & Q1 1921)

Married at the parish church Pocklington (East Yorkshire) on 4 August 1918.
Bessie Evans, spinster, 25 yrs, daughter of Richard Evans, deceased. Bride was of Loughborough, Leicestershire, at the time of the marriage.
Groom was a local man, Edward Johnson, 22 yrs, soldier, of Yapham (in Pocklington). The marriage was by licence and witnesses were Dora Ann Johnson, groom's sister, & Arthur Tenneson/Jenneson.

Thanks for looking, STG - N0, that's one of the reasons why I was trying to identify Bessie.

Kat, no I don't have the death for Edward. There are too many possibilities, but not on his home turf, as it were.
GL, thanks for your suggestions - it COULD be her, but at present all I have to go on is the marriage cert, which gives place of residence at time of the marriage, rather than place of birth. I'll try to chase that family up in census and see if it sheds any light on the matter.

I'll chase that one up, Kaz, thank you.
