  • 1865 marriage from Devon

    Hello,

I'm looking for the marriage date and place of James Westcott Harding and Emma Spurrell from 1865 in the Plymouth District. Also the burial for Emma (before 1867, when James remarried).

    I'd appreciate any help!

    Adam

        Having looked:

James and Emma married in 1865 in the Plymouth District had one son: John Thomas Westcott Harding, born 1865 in the Plymouth District
Emma died aged 20 in the Plymouth District in 1865, presumably from childbirth
No idea what became of the son

So, can anyone find a christening or burial or anything for John Harding, and a marriage for his parents James and Emma that same year, as well as Emma's burial?

Emma was living in Bickleigh in 1861. Can anyone find the 1865 marriage for her there, or the christening for her son John Harding and her burial as Emma Harding that same year?

She did hail from the city of Plymouth however, and I don’t think Bickleigh is in the Plymouth District so she probably moved back to her home city.

I think you may need to be careful with the death of the infant John Harding as his birth was registered in the 2nd quarter of the year and yet he was 6 months in July. Harding is quite a common local Devon name, as is Westcott.
On previous visits to the local archive, the archivist has stated that some Plymouth parish records were lost during the WW2 bombings.
