Does anyone know if it is possible to find the real name of a "theatrical" in the 1920s?

Thanks Lin. I'm sure I've got lots info on disc somewhere but it's a bit complicated and I can't get to it just now.
Her stage name was Beatrice Allen but we're sure her real name was Isabella Blacklock Allen.
I'd hoped someone might know of somewhere listing real/stage names but I suppose that's just too much to hope for!!
Please don't go to much trouble to find her. As I've just said , we know quite a lot about Beatrice's career and would just like to confirm once and for all that she really was Isabella.Cath.

Hi Cath
Just had a quick look and there is a Miss I B Allen born 1892 (which fits in with the birth for her full name on birth reg) sailing from England to Melbourne in 1920 with a Miss M Allen. I B is an actress and Miss M is her companion. On FMPLin

Does it give any more details? Presumably she travelled as Isabella rather than Beatrice. Her companion would be Martha, her unmarried sister. (I.B. married in Nottingham in 1950). I think this more or less proves that Isabella and Beatrice are the same person.
It's interesting that she went to Oz. Her brother was a friend of Florrie Forde the Australian musica hall star and most of his music is available in The Nat Archive of Australia.
The reason this family have come to my mind again, is because tonights WDYTYA features Lee Mack. His great great grandfather also sang her brother's songs so it will be interseting to see what they say.Cath.

I have a feeling that Isabella and Beatrice are indeed the same person but see what you make of this which gives lots of background detail/biographical clues and photos of Beatrice Allen. Does it tally with other info you have?
It is just after the heat wave, and Beatrice Allen tells graphically her trials and sufferings as principal boy in 'Humpty Dumpty" while the ...
I notice there is a 1920 electoral roll entry for an Isabella Blacklock Allen in Cheshire on FMP (I haven't got an active sub so can't see if it is in Chester, as mentioned in the above article).
Also she is on the 1939 register as a cinema usherette with mame Meaburn added. She living with her sister Martha, a dressmaker. She mentions travelling with her dressmaker sister in this last article. It all seems to stack up with what's in the thread so far....
There are loads of articles on Trove mentioning her which you can trawl through to see if you can glean more info.
One that I saw mentioned that she was playing at the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin when the war broke out. If you or anyone here has access to FMP worldwide you could search for her on Irish newspapers.
