How curious! Banns were read 3 times at St James Clitheroe for Cornelius and Margaret, yet they married at Manchester Cathedral. He is described as of Clitheroe, she is of Manchester.

I thought they called the banns in both parishes?

It seems that Charlotte Alice Heath had a baby before she was married:

Cornelius seems to be claiming her as his own.

They are on the 1939 Register with Charlotte (Ancestry wants to tell me that this is the 1900 US Census!).

Ah yes, I am so used to banns NOT being read in Manchester Cathedral I assumed they weren't in this case either.

Many many of my family were married in Manchester Cathedral and most of them have mistakes on their marriage certificates so nothing on a Manchester Cathedral marriage certificate can be taken as accurate, in my experience.

Harriet was born in 1880 and Cornelius and Charlotte married in 1890. I think on the marriage Cornelius could probably mean he is her stepfather. Harriet Heath was living with her maternal grandparents in 1891.
