I must admit I haven't had a subscription in a while with FMP. The 1939 register persuaded me. I am already impressed with just a few random searches how many potential new documents I have already found. Lots of late nights for me from now on then
The only thing I don’t like is that I have automatic renewal and one is not told that the renewal date is nigh.
You can turn off the autorenew - go to My Account >> My subscription - and it's at the bottom of the page. You should receive an email confirmation when you have turned it off.
if you have it on automatic renew you usually get a discount when it renews? I do
see here
Continuous membership: When you take out a subscription, it is on a continuous membership basis, meaning that your subscription will automatically renew unless you cancel it. This is to protect your loyalty discount and to make sure we don't cut off your access to findmypast.
FMP definitely appear to reward existing customers rather than new customers. The offers appear to be aimed at keeping your subscription. Ancestry appears to work in the complete opposite way.

But keep a weather eye on it a few days before renewal date. They have a very bad habit of restoring the auto renewal tick that you have previously removed and then claim this never happens when you phone to complain. They are pretty good at sorting things though and refunding your money. Shame they keep doing it in the first place though.
Use a screenshot or the windows snipping tool to copy your choice once saved in case you need to prove you did not want auto renewal.
