John was born at Warter, where he was bp 7 Sep 1835, illeg son of Emma Botterill.
In 1841 he was in North Cave with his grandfather & step-grandmother, visiting family members.
I have no idea what became of John's mother, but grandfather John Botterill is believed to have died at Warter in 1843. I haven't found John jnr in 1851 - may have been taken in by a family member and recorded under that surname.
On 27 Jan 1857 John married Jane Sutton at Millington and they had 3 daughters born at Millington: Emma 1858, Ann 1859 -1859,Martha Ann 1861. In 1861 John, Jane and the two surviving girls were in Millington, where John worked as an ag lab.
Jane was buried at Millington in 1864, aged 25 yrs, and in 1871 Emma was in the West Riding(possibly visiting) with members of her mother's family whilst Martha Ann was in Millington with her maternal grandfather. In 1876 Emma died aged 18 yrs and was buried in Millington, Martha Ann married at Pocklington 29 Dec 1880, church register records her as daughter of the late John Botterill.
I've gone Botterill blind working on this family - please can anyone find John in 1851(there are several other Johns of a similar age in neighbouring parishes, but mine was the only one born in the parish of Warter) and also his death after 1861 census and before Dec 1880, although I suspect he had died by 1871 as the girls were in the charge of his late wife's family.
Thanks for looking.
Jay
